What are neurotoxins?
Botulinum Toxins, Dysport and Xeomin are all neurotoxins. When used for cosmetic purposes, they help to minimize the contraction of the muscles of facial expression which cause wrinkling of the overlying skin. This allows for softening of the facial lines and dynamic wrinkles.

How does botulinum toxin work?
Neurotoxins (Botulinum Toxins, Xeomin, Dysport) are made from the bacterium Clostridium botulinum toxin. When it is injected into muscles in small doses it works by blocking signals from nerve endings to the muscle. So when used appropriately it can stop transmission of nerve signals causing contraction of muscles in the face.
How long does it take to see effects?
Following injection, the effects typically start within 3-7 days with continued improvements over 2 weeks and last up to 3-4 months. Maintenance treatment will be needed to sustain the facial softening effects produced by these injections.

What Is Botulinum Toxins injection Like?
First, you will have consultation with Dr. Kauh where she will evaluate whether neurotoxin will appropriately address your area of concern. She will then develop a customized injection pattern and dose for you. During your procedure appointment, the areas around your eyes will be cleansed. Dr. Kauh will then inject the involved areas following the customized treatment map that was created during your evaluation.
