What Is a Brow Lift?
A reconstructive brow lift is performed to improve vision by addressing aging in the forehead area resulting in sagging brows that cover the eyelids. The procedure is done to remove excess skin and tighten the forehead tissues to lift the sagging brows out of the field of vision.

What Is the Procedure Like?
A brow lift usually takes about 1-2 hours, but it can be longer if you have combined it with other procedures. Before your surgery, we will provide a full overview of what your individual procedure will look like. Your forehead can be done with only local anesthetic, but many patients prefer to choose IV anesthesia for full comfort.
During brow lift surgery, your plastic surgeon will make incisions above the eyebrows or on the forehead depending on your forehead and eyebrow anatomy, density of brow hairs, and amount of forehead wrinkles. Once the incisions are made, your surgeon will remove excess skin allowing the brows to be repositioned to a more natural position. This will be determined during your consultation.
After the brows have been lifted into position, the incisions will be closed with sutures. The sutures will be removed 1 week after surgery. The goal is to restore your vision while also minimizing the visibility of any signs of surgery.
Brow Lift Results and Recovery
The effect of your brow lift is often noticeable immediately with improvement of peripheral vision or brightening of your vision. You will need to wait for the initial swelling to go down for the full effects to be apparent. In the days and weeks following your brow lift, you might experience some bruising and swelling. However, this is usually minimal and will resolve quickly with proper care. Most patients feel well enough to return to work and other normal activities within about two weeks, but this depends on your age, health, and recovery rate.
