What to Expect at Your Consultation with Dr. Kauh
Your consultation is a personalized and comprehensive visit designed to understand your concerns, evaluate your anatomy, and create a treatment plan tailored specifically to you.
Whether you are seeking improvement in eyelid appearance, relief from droopy lids affecting vision, or overall periocular rejuvenation, this visit is an important first step in your care.
A Thoughtful, One-on-One Evaluation
During your consultation, Dr. Kauh will take time to:
- Discuss your goals, concerns, and medical history
- Evaluate your eyelids, brows, and surrounding facial structures
- Determine whether your concerns are cosmetic, functional, or a combination of both
- Review treatment options, including both surgical and non-surgical approaches
You will have the opportunity to ask questions and gain a clear understanding of what is possible, appropriate, and safe.
Clinical Photography
As part of your visit, clinical photographs will be taken for your medical record.
These photographs serve several important purposes:
- Document your baseline anatomy
- Assist in treatment planning
- Serve as a reference for Dr. Kauh during surgery, functioning as a visual “map” to guide precise and individualized results.
All images are stored securely as part of your confidential medical record.
“Dr. Kauh was helpful, kind, and went above and beyond to make me
feel comfortable in the approach to my healthcare. I couldn’t recommend anyone better to provide cosmetic services.”
Cosmetic vs. Functional Concerns
If you have both aesthetic concerns and symptoms such as eyelids affecting your vision, we recommend scheduling your visit as a cosmetic consultation.
This approach allows Dr. Kauh to fully evaluate and address all of your concerns without limitation.
If, during your evaluation, you are found to meet medical criteria for functional impairment, the functional portion of your treatment may be eligible for insurance coverage. Our team will guide you through this process and clearly explain what may or may not be covered.
If your concern is strictly functional (for example, vision obstruction with no cosmetic goals), your visit may be scheduled as a medical consultation and processed through insurance.
This policy allows us to dedicate the appropriate time and attention to each patient.
Cosmetic Consultation Fees & Scheduling
To reserve your appointment, a consultation fee is collected at the time of scheduling.
- Cosmetic Consultation Fee: Applied toward surgery if performed within 120 days
- May also be applied toward non-surgical treatments (such as lasers or facial procedures) if:
- The treatment exceeds $2,000, and
- Is completed within 90 days
Cancellation Policy
We understand that schedules can change.
- Consultation fees are fully refundable with at least 72 business hours’ notice
- Late cancellations or missed appointments will result in forfeiture of the consultation fee
Medical (Insurance-Based) Consultations
If your concern is strictly functional (for example, eyelids affecting vision with no cosmetic concerns), your visit may be processed through insurance.
- Copays are due at the time of your visit
- As with all medical care, patients are responsible for any costs not covered by insurance, including deductibles, coinsurance, or non-covered services
Our goal is to provide a thoughtful, transparent, and highly individualized experience from your very first visit.
